About Me
My name is Matt Dowie and on April 6, 2018 I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis(MS). MS is an autoimmune disease that attacks the protective covering around your nerves and can cause a variety of symptoms including but not limited to: numbness, vision issues, and a decrease in balance and coordination. Despite the diagnosis I live a happy and active life and plan to do so for the rest of my life.
I am a 26 year old husband to my beautiful wife, Lauren, and a father of two, Hudson (3) and Carter (born May 10, 2018). I live in Ankeny, Iowa and am an application analyst for Principal Financial Group. That is a fancy phrase for being a nerdy computer guy who codes and builds computer applications for Principal.

I started this blog to tell my story, my journey that lead up to my eventual diagnosis and then life after my diagnosis. Talking about what I am going through helps me to cope and digest everything and hopefully me sharing my story will help someone else who is going through a tough time get even a sliver of hope to get them through.
